Beyond Limits 11: On Ice Edition 2.0 | Brave The Icy Wilds of Mongolia For RARE DISORDERS SOCIETY SINGAPORE, 29 JAN - 8 FEB 2026!
Join us for Beyond Limits 9: On Ice, happening FROM 29 JAN - 8th Feb 2026!
We’re pushing the boundaries of extreme once more, embarking on the thrilling ‘ON ICE’ edition for the second time, following our triumphant Beyond Limits 4 expedition!
An epic journey across Mongolia’s largest freshwater lake, in the heart of winter, all in the name of raising awareness and support for children and families impacted by rare disorders through the Rare Disorders Society Singapore (RDSS).
The call to action has begun, and we’re on the lookout for remarkable individuals who believe in pushing limits and making a difference for the rare disease community. We’re limiting our expedition to a tight-knit group of 20 participants, so read on for all the exciting details below and be part of something truly extraordinary!
Amidst the unforgiving Mongolian winter, Lake Khuvsgul transforms into a frozen realm, where temperatures plummet to staggering lows of -40 degrees Celsius. Across this expansive icy canvas, nature crafts breathtaking, intricate patterns—a dance of white streaks against the deepest, darkest blue.
Catch a glimpse of what you’ll experience, from the first edition of “On Ice” during Beyond Limits 4 that happened at the start of 2023.
BREATHING LIFE INTO RARE COURAGE
Here, in this icy expanse, our dedicated team of charity expeditioners and resilient rare disorder warriors will embark on a four-day odyssey. We’ll tread upon the frozen lake, facing extreme whiteouts, biting winter winds, and whatever other perils Mother Nature might throw our way.
But why? What drives us to conquer these formidable challenges?
Beyond Limits is a series of yearly charity expeditions hosted by Beyond Expeditions. Each time, we journey into the wilderness of a remote destination, to complete a trek in the most extreme conditions we can dream up. We challenge ourselves to go beyond our physical and mental limits, with one aim, to raise awareness and funds for causes we believe in.
This time, we’re stretching our limits to support children and families battling rare disorders, shining a light on the strength, perseverance, and hope that often go unseen.
RARE DISORDERS: SILENT STRUGGLES, UNSEEN HEROES.
Rare disorders, though individually uncommon, collectively affect countless families. Each diagnosis brings uncertainty, emotional turmoil, and financial hardship, with few available resources and even fewer visible avenues for support.
In these moments of challenge, the Rare Disorders Society Singapore (RDSS) stands as a beacon of hope. Through their vital work, supporting families with emotional, financial, and practical aid, RDSS ensures that no child faces their battle alone.
This expedition isn’t just a reminder of the invisible battles fought every day.
It’s a testament to the extraordinary human spirit, a journey to uncover the depths of strength, compassion, and resilience that lies within all of us.
It’s a powerful demonstration that when we come together with a shared mission, there’s no mountain too high, no frontier too frozen, and no dream too distant.
Join us in this transformative odyssey as we brave the ice and cold.
Together, we will rewrite the story of courage, unity, and hope, not only for ourselves but for every family navigating the rarest of battles.
Together, we’ll make a difference that stretches far beyond the icy expanse of Mongolia’s Lake Khövsgöl.

[HOW EXACTLY WILL OUR FUNDS BE USED TO ASSIST RDSS IN THEIR MISSION?]
Rare Disorders Society Singapore (RDSS) is dedicated to supporting children living with rare diseases and their families by providing essential financial, emotional, and practical assistance. As a registered charity in Singapore, RDSS focuses on raising awareness, advocating for better healthcare accessibility, and easing the burdens faced by families affected by rare disorders.
All participants of this charity expedition are asked to fundraise a minimum of SGD 5000 via GIVE.asia, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Rare Disorders Society Singapore. Please note that the funds raised by participants are not part of the expedition costs and cannot be offset.
Here's how the funds raised from this charity expedition will be utilized to support RDSS’s mission:
1. Financial Assistance and Support Services:
Donations will provide direct subsidies to help families offset costly medical treatments, therapies, special education, and assistive equipment needed by children living with rare disorders.
2. Caregiver and Family Support:
Funds will help sustain caregiver support programs, emotional counseling services, and community engagement initiatives that empower families and reduce isolation often experienced by rare disorder caregivers.
3. Awareness, Advocacy, and Education:
Your donations will support RDSS’s efforts in raising public awareness, fostering understanding of rare disorders, and advocating for better medical and educational support policies through outreach, events, and partnerships.
4. Operational Sustainability:
Contributions will enable RDSS to continue running its essential operations; including family assistance programs, awareness campaigns, and community support initiatives, ensuring sustained help for families year-round.
Your generosity will make a real and lasting impact on the lives of children with rare disorders and their families.
Every dollar donated will help build hope, resilience, and brighter futures for those navigating extraordinary challenges.
For more information, please contact RDSS’s team at enquiries@rdss.org.sg or visit rdss.org.sg.
Let’s join hands in raising hope for children with rare disorders and making a powerful difference where it’s needed most!
“Beyond Limits is the essence of living out who we believe we are.
Ask yourself, what limits do you have? And when did you decide to accept these limitations you created for yourself?
How can we break through the concrete boundaries we’ve boxed ourselves in? Simple: an extremely compelling vision.
Once you have that, it’s all crystal clear. No what ifs, no excuses, no blaming others. Because that’s when you rise to a different level of intensity and focus. Where all your shoulds (regrets), have now become your musts. When challenges come your way, you will find a way, if not, you are going to make a way. That’s when the real you shows up. And you will never be able to hide that extreme level of spontaneity and excitement that you burn so passionately with, every moment of your life.
All breakthroughs start with a change in your beliefs.
So... what beliefs do you represent?”
— SCOTT TAY, BE FOUNDER
Take a moment to explore the remarkable experiences shared by previous Beyond Limits participants in their journeys. These stories provide a vivid glimpse into the transformative experiences awaiting you when you choose to push your limits alongside us.
We have Zoe, a cancer survivor; and Allegra, a bubbly and inspirational woman, join us for Beyond Limits 4, a 50km trek across an icy lake at temperatures plunging below -20 degrees celsius to raise funds for the Singapore Cancer Society.
Here’s also a visual ‘journal’ of what our participants went through for BL4, because pictures can speak to you about a journey in ways that words cannot.
Are you a good fit for this charity expedition?
Beyond Limits charity expeditions are not for everyone. We want our participants’ experience to be challenging because of the nature of the expedition, and less so because of the people. So here are several factors you should align with, to know if you are a good fit for the Beyond Limits experience!
-
Even though we have a well-planned itinerary, changes will be made during the trip itself due to unexpected circumstances.
So, if you're not ready to embrace change, then maybe Netflix is a better option than this expedition. If you're open to embracing the unknown, then we think you'll fit right in.
-
No drama queens, no turning against other team members!
Simply put, don’t be ‘toxic’, if we could be Gen-Z with you.
Every team member’s well-being is priority. Period. We work hand-in-hand to ensure we complete the expedition together. We're all about teamwork and supporting one another because we want everyone to have an awesome time, so we need people who are kind, caring, and drama-free. Leave the diva attitude at home, and let's focus on having a positive and fun experience together!
-
There may be instances where cars break down, or weather conditions take a turn for the worse. Regardless, the country’s locals know the land like the back of their hand, and have kept our team safe throughout the years. We love and respect the people of the land we visit, and we trust them to show us the ropes.
If you can't trust the locals, then maybe you should stay home and watch a travel show instead! But, if you're down to learn from and trust the people who know the land best, then you'll feel right at home.
-
For this expedition, we will appoint team leaders within the group to lead each small ‘pod’ (3-4 members each).
Your team leader is there to ensure the well-being of you and your respective team members, working hand in hand with our overall-in-charge, Scott, to ensure everyone’s safety and the expedition runs smoothly. So, if you're the type of person who likes to go rogue, then this might not be the adventure for you.
So, if you're ready to step out of your comfort zone and create some amazing memories, then come join us! Bring your sense of humor, your willingness to learn, and your positive energy, and let's make a difference together.

CHARITY EXPEDITION FAQ
-
Every spot on our charity expedition is invaluable, as we maintain a strict participant limit for each "Beyond Limits" journey to collectively achieve our fundraising and exposure objectives as a unified team.
Upon committing to sign up by placing a deposit, we expect each participant to exemplify responsibility and accountability within the team. This entails active participation in fundraising efforts, spreading awareness of the campaign, and a firm commitment not to withdraw. It's imperative to understand that this is a charity expedition, not just a leisurely holiday trip, so please review our Terms and Conditions for comprehensive guidelines before signing up.
It's worth noting that extensive planning, marketing, logistical arrangements, including fund disbursements in both Singapore and Mongolia, are meticulously executed for every "Beyond Limits" expedition. Participants should be aware that withdrawal is only considered in extraordinary circumstances, primarily health-related issues or urgent family matters. In such cases, individuals are encouraged to utilize their own travel insurance, and we are more than willing to provide the necessary travel memo to support any claims.
Your commitment and dedication are crucial to the success of our charitable endeavors, and we appreciate your understanding of these guidelines.

All proceeds will be donated to Rare Disorders Society Singapore (RDSS), a local non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children and families affected by rare diseases. RDSS aims to raise awareness of rare disorders, advocate for early diagnosis and intervention, and provide critical financial and emotional support to families managing lifelong complex conditions.
Our fundraising efforts will directly support RDSS's initiatives, including subsidy support for essential medical equipment, therapies, and programmes that enhance the quality of life for children with rare disorders.
All participants are encouraged to fundraise a minimum of SGD$5,000 through GIVE.asia, with 100% of the funds going directly to RDSS.
We’ll be using GIVE.asia, an online fundraising platform. We have used it successfully for previous Beyond Limits charity campaigns and look forward to creating another meaningful impact through this collaboration.
-
Our charity expedition will accommodate a maximum of 20 participants, which includes 1 to 3 of our dedicated BE expedition leaders. In addition, we will be joined by our Mongolian support crew, comprising of guides, cook and drivers.
If you plan to embark on this journey solo, there's no need to be concerned. We make it a point to organize 3-4 group training sessions in Singapore, providing an excellent opportunity for everyone to connect and build bonds before setting out on the expedition in Mongolia. Stay excited as we welcome you into this exceptional community of like-minded expeditioners and friends.
-
We'll be holding a more in-depth sharing during the official briefing session with confirmed participants to go through the detailed itinerary, safety precautions, contingency plans and all other relevant information. This session will take place usually 1-2 months before the expedition at our office usually on a weekday evening or weekend.
-
Yes, we’ll be trekking 10-20km a day on the frozen lake (subject to changing local weather conditions), with a total distance of 40-80km. You should self-train and have several long distance trekking sessions in Singapore under your belt before the trip. But don’t worry because we’ll hold frequent team trainings in Singapore too! We’ve had charity expeditioners over 60 years old. Our mantra is, “Leave no man behind.”
Participants with specific medical conditions must seek a professional doctor’s clearance for the trip.
-
We'll have 3 local Mongolian guides supporting us on the expedition and 2-3 cooks. They'll be able to prepare different types of cuisine. Try anything from traditional Mongolian food to western fare! Halal, vegetarian and vegan options are all available.
And calling all vegetarians, vegans and Halal eaters! Do note that your food options will not be as fancy as compared to those with a typical diet, as reviewed by past travellers who have opted for these diets while on our expeditions!
Regardless, if you have any dietary requirements, please do not hesitate to let any Beyond Expeditions team member know and we will ensure that you can experience as much of the Mongolian cuisine whilst maintaining your dietary preferences.
-
In the capital city, Ulaanbaatar, we’ll be staying in three-star hotels (twin-sharing rooms paired by gender). In the countryside on the way to the frozen lake, we’ll stay in guesthouses and traditional Mongolian gers (4-10 people per guesthouse/ger divided by gender). Once on the lake, we’ll camp on the shore every night in four-season tents; either be several big tents housing 6-8 participants or four-season, two-men tents. You will sleep in four-season sleeping bags (made of pure Mongolian sheep wool) suitable for sub-zero temperatures.
-
Mongolia stands out as one of the world's safest destinations for tourists. Our local Mongolian guides and drivers boast extensive experience in navigating diverse terrains and assessing on-the-ground conditions. Many of our seasoned drivers, in particular, have accrued over a decade or even two of expertise in adventure travel.
Additionally, our BE expedition leaders are well-versed in safety protocols during our expeditions. They are fully equipped with satellite phones and comprehensive first aid kits to ensure your well-being throughout the journey.
As we embark on our expedition, we will have support vehicles accompanying us, transporting vital provisions such as food, water, tents, and our luggage. These vehicles also serve as shelters in the event of inclement weather, such as blizzards or snowstorms. In specific charity expeditions, like our Frozen Edition Taiga, we utilize support horses instead of vehicles due to the challenging landscape that prohibits vehicle access. Do note that, should unexpected weather changes occur, we have alternative plans in place to ensure the expedition continues, albeit with potential adjustments to the original itinerary.
For your peace of mind, we will conduct an official briefing session for all confirmed participants. This session will provide you with a detailed itinerary, packing list, scenario-based questions, and essential safety precautions, among other crucial information. Your safety and well-being remain our top priorities throughout the expedition.
-
Yes, individuals of all nationalities are warmly welcomed to participate in our charity expeditions. Please inform us of your departure and arrival locations so that we can accommodate your travel arrangements.
