The Breathtaking Battle Against Breast Cancer.

The pains of breast cancer are multifaceted and profound, echoing through the lives of those affected physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It's a journey fraught with uncertainty, fear, and physical discomfort—a relentless battle against an unseen adversary. From the initial shock of diagnosis to the grueling rounds of treatment, each step is marked by its unique challenges and burdens.

Similarly, trekking through the cold and heights of Bhutan presents its array of trials and tribulations. The chilling temperatures of -20 degrees Celsius echo the profound coldness that cancer brings—a relentless chill that pervades both body and spirit.

The altitude, unforgiving and relentless, leaves trekkers breathless and fatigued, every step a struggle against the thinning air. The trek, much like the experience of battling breast cancer, involves conquering daunting terrains. Each step uphill reflects the uphill battle faced by survivors, scaling metaphorical mountains of fear, uncertainty, and pain. Just as the altitude in Bhutan challenges the body's endurance, the emotional toll of cancer pushes individuals to their limits.

Yet, amidst the pain and discomfort, there is a profound sense of purpose and determination. Just as breast cancer patients bravely navigate through the darkest moments of their journey, trekkers in Bhutan persevere, fueled by the promise of discovery and transformation. Each arduous ascent, each icy gust of wind, becomes a testament to the human spirit's capacity to endure and overcome.

In both experiences, there are moments of raw vulnerability and moments of indomitable strength. There is pain, yes, but there is also hope—a beacon of light guiding us through the darkest of nights. And just as breast cancer survivors emerge stronger and more resilient, you will too, as you push through this trek in Bhutan.

And just as our breast cancer survivors are forever changed by the challenges they've faced and the mountains they've conquered, so too will you be transformed by your journey with us in Beyond Limits 8. Through the highs and lows of trekking through the cold and heights of Bhutan, you'll discover the depths of your strength and resilience. Like the survivors, you'll emerge from this journey with a newfound perspective, a deeper appreciation for life's beauty, and the unwavering knowledge that you can conquer any mountain, both literal and figurative, that lies ahead. Join us and be transformed by the power of the human spirit and the beauty of the journey.

More about the dagala TREK.

The most challenging part of this trek:

The trek may challenge your physical conditioning. In some parts of the trails, you have to encounter steep climbs, conquer rugged terrains, navigate deep descents, and scramble through ice and snow. You will cross slightly higher than an altitude of 4,500 m. Apart from these, the trek is considered moderate to easy. With an exposed ridge line like any other mountain range, the weather can change abruptly en route. But you needn’t worry as one can quickly descend to lower altitudes if required.

“Beyond Limits is the essence of living out who we believe we are.

Ask yourself, what limits do you have? And when did you decide to accept these limitations you created for yourself?

How can we break through the concrete boundaries we’ve boxed ourselves in? Simple: an extremely compelling vision.

Once you have that, it’s all crystal clear. No what ifs, no excuses, no blaming others. Because that’s when you rise to a different level of intensity and focus. Where all your shoulds (regrets), have now become your musts. When challenges come your way, you will find a way, if not, you are going to make a way. That’s when the real you shows up. And you will never be able to hide that extreme level of spontaneity and excitement that you burn so passionately with, every moment of your life.

All breakthroughs start with a change in your beliefs.

So... what beliefs do you represent?”

— SCOTT TAY, BE FOUNDER

Take a moment to explore the remarkable experiences shared by previous Beyond Limits participants in their journeys. These stories provide a vivid glimpse into the transformative experiences awaiting you when you choose to push your limits alongside us.

We have Zoe, a cancer survivor; and Allegra, a bubbly and inspirational woman, join us for Beyond Limits 4, a 50km trek across an icy lake at temperatures plunging below -20 degrees celsius to raise funds for the Singapore Cancer Society.

Here’s also a visual ‘journal’ of what our participants went through for BL4, because pictures can speak to you about a journey in ways that words cannot.

Are you a good fit for this charity expedition?

This is not an easy expedition, and it is not for everyone. We greatly prioritize the makeup of the team, and thus go through a strictly selective process to ensure we honor the meaning of why we do the expedition in the first place. So, before you say yes to this edition of Beyond Limits, read on to find out if this expedition is for you.

  • Even though we have a well-planned itinerary, changes will be made during the trip itself due to unexpected circumstances.

So, if you're not ready to embrace change, then maybe Netflix is a better option than this expedition. If you're open to embracing the unknown, then we think you'll fit right in.

  • No drama queens, no turning against other team members!

Simply put, don’t be ‘toxic’, if we could be Gen-Z with you.

Every team member’s well-being is priority. Period. We work hand-in-hand to ensure we complete the expedition together. We're all about teamwork and supporting one another because we want everyone to have an awesome time, so we need people who are kind, caring, and drama-free. Leave the diva attitude at home, and let's focus on having a positive and fun experience together!

  • There may be instances where cars break down, or weather conditions take a turn for the worse. Regardless, the country’s locals know the land like the back of their hand, and have kept our team safe throughout the years. We love and respect the people of the land we visit, and we trust them to show us the ropes.

If you can't trust the locals, then maybe you should stay home and watch a travel show instead! But, if you're down to learn from and trust the people who know the land best, then you'll feel right at home.

  • For this expedition, we will appoint team leaders within the group to lead each small ‘pod’ (3-4 members each).

Your team leader is there to ensure the well-being of you and your respective team members, working hand in hand with our overall-in-charge, Scott, to ensure everyone’s safety and the expedition runs smoothly. So, if you're the type of person who likes to go rogue, then this might not be the adventure for you.

So, if you're ready to step out of your comfort zone and create some amazing memories, then come join us! Bring your sense of humor, your willingness to learn, and your positive energy, and let's make a difference together.

Stay excited as we welcome you into this exceptional community of like-minded expeditioners and friends.

  • Do refer to the segment above, where we’d already inserted the itinerary! We'll also be holding a more in-depth sharing during the official briefing session with confirmed participants to go through the detailed itinerary, safety precautions, contingency plans and all other relevant information. This session will take place usually 2-3 months before the expedition at our office usually on a weekday evening or weekend.

  • Yes, we’ll be trekking 5-15km a day (subject to changing local weather conditions), with a total distance of 40-80km. Additionally, our BE expedition leaders are well-versed in safety protocols during our expeditions. They are fully equipped with satellite phones and comprehensive first aid kits to ensure your well-being throughout the journey.

As we embark on our expedition, we will have support horses accompanying us, transporting vital provisions such as food, water, tents, and essential items we need during the trek. We will also have one local nurse with us during the trek, to take care of any injuries or health-related issues we may encounter.

Do note that, should unexpected weather changes occur, we have alternative plans in place to ensure the expedition continues, albeit with potential adjustments to the original itinerary.

For your peace of mind, we will conduct an official briefing session for all confirmed participants. This session will provide you with a detailed itinerary, packing list, scenario-based questions, and essential safety precautions, among other crucial information. Your safety and well-being remain our top priorities throughout the expedition.
